About Court IQ

A classroom idea that became a community basketball academy.

Court IQ began as an idea in an MBA program and became a real business through family, community and a belief that youth basketball can be about more than just competition.

Our Origin Story

Court IQ Training Academy began as an idea that took shape during my MBA Capstone project.

Working with three classmates from different parts of the world, I developed and refined the business concept as part of our Capstone. What started as an academic project quickly became something more meaningful. The team continued to challenge the idea, refine the strategy, and explore what it could become even after the project was submitted.

For me, the idea didn't end with the Capstone. I took the next step and turned the concept into Court IQ Training Academy, building the business from the ground up with the support of my family, coaches, and our growing community.

In July 2026, Court IQ moved from the planning stage to the court, hosting its first basketball clinic and welcoming our first group of young athletes.

Today, Court IQ is built around a simple belief: youth basketball should develop people, not just players.

Why Court IQ?

Court IQ Training Academy was created with a simple belief: young athletes need more than basketball skills to thrive. They need confidence. They need positive coaches. They need opportunities to learn from mistakes. They need teamwork and community.

Court IQ was founded to create development-focused basketball experiences where athletes can improve their game while enjoying the process. Our approach combines structured skill development, positive coaching, mentorship and meaningful feedback—helping athletes understand not only how to play the game, but why the game is played the way it is.

Where Court IQ Fits

Families in the GTA usually choose between two options. Community rec leagues are affordable and welcoming, but sessions are often large and loosely structured. Elite academies deliver excellent training, but they carry a high price tag and are generally built for older, competitive-only athletes. Court IQ was built for the space in between.

A real curriculum

Every session follows a planned progression, so athletes build on last week instead of starting over.

Small coach-to-player ratios

Fewer athletes per coach means more reps, more corrections and more encouragement for each player.

Weekly parent updates

Parents receive honest, specific notes on what their athlete worked on and what comes next.

Youth Leadership

Developing Young Leaders

At Court IQ, we believe development extends beyond the athletes on the court. We are also committed to creating opportunities for young people to develop leadership, communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.

Community

Community Connection

At Court IQ Training Academy, community impact is a core part of our mission. We believe access to sport should not be limited by background, income, or circumstance.

We are proud to currently partner with two outstanding organizations that share our commitment to positive youth development through basketball:

For Division 1 (FD1)

A non-profit using sport as a pathway to help at-risk youth build confidence, discipline, and positive life skills both on and off the court.

One Community Hub logo

One Community Hub

Runs free programs, mentorship, and community events for youth and families facing barriers, with a special focus on minority and newcomer communities.

Through these partnerships, Court IQ supports inclusive programming, mentorship, and access to training for youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate. As our programs grow, we look forward to building additional community partnerships that align with our values of development, accessibility, and positive youth engagement.
